O’Connors delivers national training to tax advisers for Chartered Institute of Taxation

On Monday 16th November, Paul O’Connor and Joshua Bates of O’Connors’ Insurance and Regulatory team joined forces with Peter Graham, Andrew Stackhouse and Louise Cowell of RSM UK Tax and Accounting Group and Anjali Anthony, head of tax insurance at Paragon International Insurance Brokers, to deliver a national training seminar to members of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIoT).

ard about the role that tax liability insurance can play in mitigating the exposure of the client to some of the potential tax risks that can materialise in a commercial property transaction and the practical steps required to secure the benefit of the protection.

This seminar explained how these three distinctive advisory specialists – accountancy, insurance broking and legal – can work in collaboration to mitigate a client’s tax risk in a commercially effective fashion:

  • Tax advisory – the taxation of commercial property and the potential pitfalls to avoid.
  • Insurance Broking – the role of tax liability insurance in mitigating the tax risk, and how to access it.
  • Legal advisory – advising on the tax insurance policy and its terms, conditions and exclusions to ensure that it covers the tax risks identified in the transaction and will respond in the event of a claim.

Paul O’Connor, head of O’Connors’ Insurance and Regulatory team said, “It was a real pleasure to be working alongside our colleagues from RSM and Paragon and to be invited by the CIoT to be part of their national digital training programme and speak to their membership of tax advisers.
